Peter Bromberg's UnBlog: KB929729 Windows Update Failure - An Easy FIX

Peter Bromberg’s UnBlog: KB929729 Windows Update Failure - An Easy FIX

In case anyone else runs into this… I had just upgraded a machine from XP to Vista and the .NET 1.1 SP hotfix problem was waiting for me at the end of the upgrade process. Mr. Bromberg’s post of these steps fixed my problem. :-) This doesn’t sound like it’s a common problem, so it was a relief to find the steps to fix it (via Sypher Technology News)

Woo hoo!

New office furniture being delivered today. This place is finally starting to come together. ;-) I’m hoping to have an open house in the next couple of months, but we’ll have to see what our schedule will allow.

This is an absolutely amazing photo manipulation technique that is sure to show up in Photoshop eventually.  Using it in Web pages may be a bit of a stretch (ahem), but as a content creator’s tool, it looks like the bee’s knees.

299 Lincolns? I Think Not!

Have you seen the Wendy’s commercial with the two hundred ninety-nine Lincolns in an auditorium? I don’t think there are actualy 299 of them. From counting a couple of rows and multiplying, I only estimate about 200 of ‘em. Apparently, some people only think there are ninety-nine of them. :-P

What’s that you say? You didn’t know that was a Wendy’s commercial? I didn’t, either, until about the third time I saw it. :-P

Music

I’ve been having a lot of problems with Pandora going mute in the middle of songs recently.  I thought it might be because I was using Pandora’s Box as a wrapper for the music player, but I continued to have the same problem when trying to use Pandora directly in my web browser.  So, I’m trying out last.fm right now as an alternative.  Unlike Pandora’s free service, I paid US$3.00 for one month of Last.fm.  We’ll see how this goes.

I hope Pandora figures out what is going on.  I’ve been using their player for months now and have found a lot of cool new music because of that.  I like how their player is free and I have supported them by buying music from iTunes through their links.
